Family Photos

This is a guide to help you organize your family photos on your wedding day! Depending on the size of your family, these typically take around thirty minutes to complete. For family photos, I recommend having your officiant make an announcement for all notified members to stay for family photos after the ceremony. We will take these at the alter unless another place has been designated in advance!

Bride's Family

  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Extended Family
  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Immediate Family + Grandparents
  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Grandparents
  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Immediate Family
  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Parents
  • Bride & Groom with Bride's Siblings

Groom's Family

  • Bride & Groom with Groom's Extended Family
  • Bride & Groom with with Groom's Immediate Family + Grandparents
  • Bride & Groom with Groom's Grandparents
  • Bride & Groom with Groom's Immediate Family
  • Bride & Groom with Groom's Parents
  • Bride & Groom with Groom's Siblings

Each family is different and so other combinations may be necessary! I recommend allotting and additional 2-5 minutes per grouping depending on the number of people.

Other Combinations to Consider

  • Family Portraits with just the bride or just the groom

(Example: Bride with Mom, Groom with Dad, Bride with Sisters, Groom with Grandpa)

  • Separating maternal and paternal grandparents
  • Step Family
  • God Parents
  • Great Grandparents
  • Just parents or grandparents on their own
  • Bride or Groom with particular sibling sets
  • Any other unique to your family sets

When making out your list, it will be helpful to list out the names of those included in each group. Example: Bride's Immediate Family (Bob, Jill, Sue, and Jack)

Wedding Party

  • Bride & Groom
  • Bride & Groom with Flower Girls and Ring Bearers
  • Bride & Groom with Full Wedding Party

For your wedding party, I recommend allowing time before the ceremony to capture as many of these as possible! In this time we will take individuals of the bride with each bridesmaid and groom with each groomsmen. As well as group photos with each. If you are doing a first look, we will also do combined photos at this time with your wedding party. If you are not, these will all need to take place after family photos as well.

  • Bride with All Bridesmaids
  • Bride with Individual Bridesmaids
  • Groom with All Groomsmen
  • Groom with Individual Groomsmen
  • Any other combinations unique to your day

If your individual bridesmaids or groomsmen want to do a funny or unique picture, I recommend urging them to start thinking now to help save time day of!

I hope this guide helps! If you have any further questions, please let me know!
